BE EXCELLENT TO EACH OTHER (Terms Apply)

UnderPass is committed to fostering a positive community, as long as "positive" is defined by our moderation team, which changes shift every 8 hours.

These Community Guidelines represent UnderPass's commitment to fostering a safe and welcoming environment, or at least an environment that doesn't generate bad press. Please read carefully—your participation constitutes acceptance, and ignorance is not a defense (but neither is reading them, honestly).

1. PROHIBITED BEHAVIOR

Doxxing, swatting, and real-world targeting will result in permanent bans and a very disappointed sigh from our moderation team.

Manipulation of engagement metrics through bots, alt accounts, or coordinated inauthentic behavior is prohibited. The authentic version is somehow worse but technically allowed.

2. GUIDELINE UPDATES

These guidelines may be updated at any time without notice. We might tweet about it if we remember. Check back daily, or don't—your choice, your consequences.

Retroactive enforcement of new rules is theoretically prohibited but practically ambiguous. Don't quote us on this.

Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance. Not using the platform also constitutes acceptance, spiritually.

Major updates will be announced via the notification system you probably muted because it was annoying.

3. REPORTING & APPEALS

Appeals must be submitted within 30 days using a form that requires you to already be logged in to the account you can't access. Good luck.

False reports may result in action against the reporter. Defining 'false' is an exercise we'd rather not engage in.

Reports are confidential, meaning we won't tell the reported user who reported them. We might hint strongly if it's obvious, though.

All reports are reviewed by our team, which consists of AI systems, offshore contractors, and one very tired person in San Francisco.

4. MODERATION & ENFORCEMENT

Moderators are volunteers/employees who do their best. They're also human and occasionally petty. We apologize in advance and also in arrears.

We may use automated systems to detect violations. These systems are confidently wrong approximately 23% of the time. Your mileage may vary.

5. SAFETY FEATURES

Two-factor authentication is recommended. We won't require it because users complained, and then they'll complain when they get hacked. It's a beautiful cycle.

Content warnings may be applied to sensitive material. Our AI determines sensitivity, and it was trained on data we'd rather not discuss.

Privacy settings let you control who sees your content. The default settings expose everything, because that's how we make money.

Block and mute features are available for your protection. They work approximately 70% of the time and are easily circumvented by determined trolls.

6. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

Trademark use must be nominative and appropriate. If you don't know what that means, neither do we. Just don't be weird about logos.

Fair use claims are evaluated by staff with no legal training. This keeps things interesting and our lawyers employed.

AI-generated content must be labeled as such, unless it's indistinguishable from human content, in which case existential dread prevents enforcement.

Respect others' intellectual property. Also respect ours—we own everything you post here, remember?

7. RESPECTFUL CONDUCT

Treat others as you would want to be treated, unless you're into that sort of thing, in which case please keep it off our platform.

Personal attacks are not tolerated. Impersonal attacks exist in a legal gray area we'd rather not explore. Attacks on abstract concepts are generally fine.

Disagreement is welcome; toxicity is not. The line between them is determined by whichever moderator is on shift, their caffeine levels, and the general political climate.
